Tropical Kale Smoothie Bliss

One cup of kale contains 36 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 15% of the daily requirement of calcium and vitamin B6, 40% of magnesium, 180% of vitamin A, 200% of vitamin C and 1,020% of vitamin K.  As  if that isn't reason enough to keep it real with this delicious green smoothie, you'll love the taste--it's super refreshing and satisfying in a special way.  When I'm not reaching for one of my Bananarama Bars in the AM, I go for a super smoothie...especially hits the spot now that the weather is finally warming up!

2 cups organic mixed baby kale
1/2 cup frozen mango pieces
1/2 cup frozen pineapple pieces
2 tablespoons walnut pieces
1 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 banana (optional)

1.  Add all ingredients to blender and blend until nice and smooth.

2.  Enjoy all of the tasty and nutritious ingredients nature has given us.

3.  Feel good.

Looks interesting, although I've never seen kale for sale in my city. Maybe it's only an American thing?

Also, anyone on warfarin should definitely stay far, far away from that smoothie!

As an alternative, you can substitute baby spinach but you may not need to because soon I'll be posting a delicious crave-busting spinach and banana smoothie :-)

Yum. This looks amazing! I just bought kale... I'm going to try it tomorrow! And my mom is a kale NUT right now, so I'm going to forward this recipe to her!! Thanks.

Haha so funny; your mom is smart! Kale has been around for a while but it's recently become super hot as it should be since it's packed with such high nutritional value. Wasn't sure what kind of kale you bought but I just wanted to point out that I used organic mixed baby kale for this particular recipe :-) Enjoy!
