Tuna Steak on a Bed of Arugula

I like my fish simple with no frills.  My favorite is the freshest catch marinated in the simplest of ingredients.  This recipe is absolutely delicious and is ready in no time.  You can marinate the tuna for an hour prior to grilling or if you're pressed for time, 5-10 minutes will suffice.  This dish is healthy and so satisfying.  I made mine in the oven for convenience, but if you have access to an outdoor grill, even better!  I thought this recipe would be perfect for the 4th of July, whether you have a grill or not.

So get ready to please your palates and boost your omega-3s!

Ingredients:

3/4 pound fresh tuna (I used wild yellowtail)
1/5 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves crushed garlic
Juice of 1 lemon
Fresh cracked black pepper and sea salt to taste

6-8 ounces washed arugula
Lemon juice and olive oil (I used 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 tablespoon olive oil)
Fresh cracked black pepper and sea salt to taste

Directions:
Preheat the oven to broil (if you're grilling, start it up).

Place the tuna into a bowl and add the crushed garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, pepper and salt.  Make sure all ingredients are well distributed on the surface area of the tuna and let it marinate (anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour-- make sure to refrigerate if marinating for longer than 5 minutes):

This is before I mixed all the ingredients to marinate

Once the oven is ready (or the grill), place the tuna on an oven grill rack and cook for ~3-4 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes (depending how rare or well-done you like it).

While the tuna is cooking, take your arugula and place it on a plate.  Add olive oil, lemon juice, pepper and salt and toss so that ingredients are well combined.

Once tuna is finished cooking, gently place it on the bed of arugula, slice it up, and garnish with lemon slices:

Enjoy this delicious, nutritious and simple dish from my kitchen to yours.

Happy 4th of July!
